Wheat

Wheat has accompanied the evolution of humanity since the emergence of agriculture, being documented about 10 thousand years ago, in the Fertile Crescent, an area that today goes from Egypt to Iraq. The crop even became responsible for the creation of writing, which was inserted into society to record and control the food trade, in which wheat was one of the main items offered.

Brazil

It arrived in Brazilian lands in 1534, brought by Martim Afonso de Souza. The process of adaptation of the culture occurred slowly, the climatic factor made it difficult to expand the culture. The development took place in the region of Rio Grande do Sul, but at the beginning of the 19th century, the rust decimated the wheat fields. It was only in the early 1920s that planting resumed, and in the 1940s, plantations expanded in Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná, which became the main producer of the crop in the country. Wheat is the daily bread of almost all people, it is in all types of pasta such as cookies, cakes, breads, pizza and pasta. Today, Brazil produces around 6 million tons, importing another 4 million to meet consumption.
